Sonic Vigil 11

Sonic Vigil is a festival of improvised music, sound art, and video that has taken place regularly in Cork. It is returning this year after a long absence. Check out the website for full details.

The festival culminates in a six-hour group improvisation starting Saturday 16 September at noon. I am pleased to say that I am one of the invited artists. Here’s the complete list:

David Toop, The Quiet Club, Cathal Roach, Karen Power, Quiet Music Ensemble, Danny McCarthy, Mick O’ Shea, Irene Murphy, Karen Power, John Godfrey, Imna Pavon, Harry Moore, Vicky Langan, Anthony Kelly, David Stalling, Robin Parmar, Tony Langlois, Sean Taylor, Eimear Reidy, Cathal Roche, Katie O’ Looney, Anne Marie Deacy, Claudia Barton, Andy Ingamells, David Bremner, Billy Kemp, Pierre Berthet + Rie Nakajima.

Each performer will be given a generated schedule with designated times during which they can make sounds. All performers at that moment then create an ad hoc performance, not knowing who else might be playing.

Location

Cork Opera House, Cork, Ireland. 14-16 September 2023.
