Description

Sonic Vigil is a festival of improvised music, sound art, and video that takes place every year in Cork. For Sonic Vigil 8, the festival was extended to three days, from 2-4 May 2014. I participated in the large group event Saturday afternoon.

Over six hours many good friends and collaborators performed: Áine O’Dwyer, Paul Hegarty, Fergus Kelly, Danny Mc Carthy, Mick O’Shea, Vicky Langan, Karen Power, Anthony Kelly, David Stalling, Irene Murphy, Tony Langlois, John Godfrey, and Softday.

The format was intriguing… each performer was given a generated schedule with designated times during which they might make sounds. They would then create an ad hoc performance with whomever else happened to also have that time slot.
