Description

The sonic material on this album is from Vera Lynn’s 1942 recording of “(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover.” Having lived through the Blitz of London, this remained one of my mother’s favourite songs.

Techniques of frequency extraction return the music to the immanent field of possibilities from which phenomena are formed. Listening makes tangible the relational nature of experience. We perceive sound in a thick present that includes what we experienced just moments prior… and our expectations of the future. Temporal paradoxes can be demonstrated experimentally. A sound we will hear in 50 milliseconds can mask a sound we are hearing “now” so that we are not even aware of that present sound. The future changes the present. We are time travellers within our own skulls.
