University of Brighton, Brighton, UK. 9 December 2005.
My trip to Brighton incorporated two events. One was a poetry festival, the other a seminar at Brighton University as a sound artist. Somehow my roles were combined into one title, and I was promoted to the students as a “sound poet”, something I am not!
Once the confusion had cleared, I curated a listening session. The goal was to audition sounds most people had never heard, and in this way to inspire wonder in the variety of sounds around us. To this end I played everything from dolphins in the Red Sea to outer atmospheric magnetics.
The photo to the left is not directly related to the seminar, but was taken by myself on the same trip.
