Digital Media Research Centre (DMARC), University of Limerick. Spring term 2011.
This module was described in the course outline as “Computer Systems and Modelling in Music”, but was essentially a placeholder for the specific expertise of the lecturer. I presented material on a wide range of intermedial practices, including radiophonics, sound art, phonography, sound ecology, and improvisation.
I used a continuous assessment model using ten graded activities that functioned as incremental learning objectives. Student abilities were tested in these areas: reading comprehension, research, citation style, group work and consensus-building, self-organisation, peer evaluation, oral presentation, short report writing, developing and presenting a formal paper, creation of visual aids (poster, slideshow).
